Microsoft Office 365, what is it and how can it help my business?
Before the evolution of Cloud technologies, businesses relied on server solutions such as Microsoft Small Business Server. This all in one solution provided everything to help a small business grow. One element of Microsoft Small Business Server also known as SBS was Microsoft Exchange, this was the major component that handled all email processing and delivery. Other technologies bundled into the SBS server included Sharepoint and remote connectivity. The problem was all of these solutions where held on one server and therefore the single point of failure became the SBS server.
Now we have Office 365, using this technology we can offload the Exchange (Email) and Sharepoint (Collaboration portal) components but still utilise an on-premises server to handle tasks such as file and printer processing. This hybrid approach eliminates a single point of failure but offers so much more.
