BT is investing heavily in the whole of its internet communications infrastructure. The product is referred to as FTTC (fibre to the cabinet).

This means that businesses will be able to have superfast connections with a download speed of upto 40mb and upload speed of upto 10mb.

Although some exchanges have already been upgraded such as Ashton-Under-Lyne, Bury, Oldham other exchanges such as Bolton, Heywood and Stockport are not due to be upgraded until later in the year. Rochdale will not be upgraded until early 2012.

If your business has branch offices or remote users who need access to your network, then FTTC will be an worthwhile upgrade to your standard ADSL connection.
